Megalong Creek

After dropping the family off at Dry Ridge Winery for a an afternoon of tasting and cheese platter, I hopped over their back gate and within 100m was trotting down the Six Foot Track towards the Coxs River.

I encountered a group of 20 slow moving people, so I tried to enter the creek early - it wasn’t pleasant, so I continued to the next gate only just catching them up, and followed the fenceline easily down the the next gate. From here the descent into the creek was apparent, albeit through weeds, burrs and spikey seeds.

A lot of shots of waterfalls cascading over the band of granite. Don’t expect to see this much water unless it’s rained within the last few days. It’s usually a gentle trickle with pleasant swimming holes.

Even with this much water, it wasn’t too hard to stay on the steep rocky banks to follow it downstream.

I ran out of time to continue to the junction with the Coxs, and also hit a steep bit of rock that necessitated a deviation into the scrub. So I called it a day, and stuggled through the barbed wire fence to return the the Six Foot Track and back for the scrapings of the cheese platter.
